I’ve been across in Norway over the last week or so visiting my son and daughter in law who live on the Island of Malmoya in Oslo Fiord. We decided to do something different rather than fly into Gardermoen as usual, and instead flew with BA to Bergen so we could take the Bergen – Oslo line, one of spectacular views and a true great railway journey. We stopped at Myrdal to do a very quick out and back trip on the Flam Railway. As trains on the main line were delayed due to heat/rail problems back down towards Bergen, we had to spend 40 minutes waiting for the Oslo train at Myrdal and as usual the modellers eye took over – it rather lends itself to a very spectacular layout…
